Mr Nalinda Priyadarshana
Nalinda is a 38-year-old young person with a spinal cord injury. He had a road traffic accident in 2003 and ended up with spinal cord injury at T12 level. He is fully bounded to a wheelchair. Currently, he is an owner of a small shop in Padukka, living independently
“In the beginning I needed the lot of help from others, but there was no one to help me except my family. Gradually, I learnt myself to do things on my own. Today I run a saloon and small shop. I bought a small lorry and modified it to drive myself. I am an independent person now. Each month I allocate some of my earnings to help someone like me. I have helped a lot of people with disabilities in my area. What I want to say is, learn lessons from the things of your life. Find out what you can do without worrying about what you cannot do”.
